Bands
Sakes Alive!! (Rochester, NY)
Sakes Alive!! is one of the most in-your-face raw DIY melodic punk bands around today. Their live shows are intense, Chris Vandeviver’s howl is unstoppable and the music is fast and straight to the point. The band has played all over the place over the last couple years including multiple stops the infamous Fest in Gainsville, FL. Make sure you go pick up Act I and Act II while they are still a round.
RIYL: Paint It Black, Kid Dynamite, Awesome Music

Giants (Cedar Falls, IA)
The name matches the sound. Giants create some of the most beautiful, epic and huge sounding music we have ever heard. The live show is without a doubt something you have to witness. We could not ask for more from the first band to grace the Cavity Records roster; an amazing band and great friends. Be on the lookout for new music from these guys in 2010.
RIYL: Unwed Sailor, Explosions In The Sky, This Will Destroy You

NORTH (Tucson, AZ)
We have said it before, and we still stand by it; NORTH may possibly be the loudest band on Earth (that is a good thing). After a couple EPs as an incredible instrumental outfit, NORTH teamed up with two new members and delivered the EPIC record known as What You Were in 2008. WYW has been well received by fans and press all around, including a spot on Decibel’s Top 40 Extreme Records of 2008.
RIYL: Rosetta, Red Sparrowes, Old Man Gloom

Eagle Scout (Greenville, IL)
Eagle Scout play some of the most infectious rock music we have heard in a long time. After a few member changes early on, they released their EP, Panamonium which caught Cavity’s attention in early 2009. Now in early 2010 we will see their first proper full-length entitled New Hands which was recorded at Glow In The Dark Studios with the infamous Matt Goldman. These boys will soon be in your area, so keep your eye out.
RIYL: Ra Ra Riot, Minus the Bear, Get Up Kids

Mooncake (Moscow, Russia)
Mooncake are a Russian “post-rock” band that often get overlooked, and boy is that a shame. The power and emotion set forth in their instrumental opuses is beyond incredible. When we were first introduced to Lagrange Points, days were spent listening to it on repeat. There simply is not enough positive things we can say about this band. Someone needs to get these guys stateside ASAP!
RIYL: Mono, Ef, Mogwai

Anthems (Las Vegas, NV)
Sadly, the Anthems release on Cavity will never see the light of day as the band decided to call it a day just before entering the studio in 2008. It is a shame too, ’cause they were one hell of a powerful posi-hardcore band that was ready to take over the world. Due to this unfortunate break-up CAVITY08 was turned into a split label sampler with our Ohioan brethren, The Mylene Sheath.

Year of No Light (Bordeaux, France)
Year of No Light are dark, heavy, noisey and just straight up bring it. Now with a handful of releases, collaborations and splits under their belt they are ready to rip this world apart in 2010. This time around with a new line up (including members of Monarch!, one of France’s other fine exports) one of this years best releases will soon be in the works.
RIYL: Neurosis, Majority Rule, Being scared for your life

Nanda Devi (Portland, OR)
Nanda Devi has evolved more in their two year existence than most bands do in five plus. From the early days of Red Sparrowes worship (but quite well done if you ask us) to the sheer doom of their more recent work, this is without a doubt a band to watch in 2010. Keep your eyes peeled for a new full-length from our friends at Init Records as well as a (hopeful) new release on Cavity in the near future.
RIYL: Neurosis, Khanate, Mouth of the Architect

Paulson (Midland Park, NJ)
Ever since the original release of All At Once we were hooked. After almost two years of listening to this record our old friends at Doghouse Records let us team up with the band to finally get this record out on vinyl. The music sticks with you and even after hundreds of spins, we still love it. The band has been pretty quiet for the last year, we can only hope they will be back at it in full force soon.
RIYL: Eddie Murphy, Life, Fun

Syrens (Dallas, TX)
This is technical metal done right. The guitar work by Bryce Lucien on their self-titled Cavity Records release is just unstoppable. Shortly after the release of their Cavity debut the band had to take an unfortunate step back and refocus their energy elsewhere. Now back with a revised line-up there is no telling what these guys may have in store for the world in the future. Expect some massive stuff from these guys in 2010.
RIYL: The Chariot, Botch, Norma Jean

Rosetta (Philadelphia, PA)
When the guys called us asking if we wanted to be involved with a split with them and their Philadelphia brother’s, Restorations, how could we say no? Many say they are metal for astronauts (which is fitting), but whatever you consider them, they are without a doubt one of the best in the metal game. Make sure you pick up their new full-length coming very soon on Translation Loss as well.
RIYL: NORTH, Cult of Luna, Sleep

ADAI (Denver, CO)
Seriously, how can a two-piece band be so fucking massive sounding? After hearing their previous EP, …I Carry and catching their incredible live show while on the road with NORTH, we were sold. These boys are touring machines at times, and when they are, you really should follow our advice and go witness their awesomeness. They will without a doubt leave you floored, trust us.
RIYL: Omega Massif, Buried at Sea, FLOOR

Restorations (Philadelphia, PA)
We were first introduced to the guys after being asked to do a split with them, and wow, we were missing out. These guys have it all; great songwriting, killer guitar hooks, awesome vocals and anything else you need. The band has a LOT planned for 2010, and lucky for us a split with Rosetta on Cavity is one of them.
